Donald Ray Morris, age 82 of Buchanan, passed away Friday, May 23, 2025.  Born in Buchanan on July 8, 1942, he was the son of the late John Dewey Morris and the late Velma Perry Morris.  In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hornsby Morris, his daughter, Teres Bergmann, his brothers, J.D. Morris, Billy Morris and Herschel Morris; and a great-granddaughter, Annabelle.

Growing up in rural Haralson County, Ray was a country boy at heart who loved to fish and hunt.  On most weekends in his younger adult years, he could be found on the baseball field pitching for his Fast Pitch softball team.  Ray retired after more than 30 years of employment with General Motors.  After retiring from GM in 2002, he continued working as a valued team member of Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel. His quick wit and caring personality, brought joy and laughter to many. Later on in life, Ray enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and he continued his love of fishing.  As a devoted family man, Ray took care of his family and his favorite title was "Pop."   And as a man of faith, Ray was a long-time member of the Buchanan Church of God. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who loved him.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughters: Denise Morris Pollard and Lexie Morris; his son, Dawson Morris; his precious grandchildren: Drake (Megan) Morris, Haven (Adam) Morgan, Ellen (Joe) Draughon, and Dasch Bergmann; his great-grandchildren: Ainsley, Gage, Kane, Abbygail, Easton, Augusta, Anders, Perry, Hutch, Hart, Huxton, and Henley; a nephew, Larry (Cyndi) Morris; and several other extended family members.

Funeral services for Ray Morris will be conducted on Wednesday, May 28th, at 4:00 PM at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Pastor Penny Landmon and Pastor Ricky Shirley officiating with Gage delivering the eulogy.  Interment will follow in the Buchanan Church of God Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 PM until the funeral hour.
