Phillip Charles McCarty, age 54 of Douglasville, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023.  Born in Douglas County on January 1, 1969, he was the son of Wanda Carol McGuire McCarty and the late Carlton Davis McCarty.  In addition to his father, Phillip was preceded in death by his infant twin brothers and a sister.

Phillip was an excellent mechanic and working on cars was his passion.  He was also a motorcycle enthusiast.  A simple man, Phil enjoyed listening to classic country music, sitting on the porch, and spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Wanda McCarty; daughter and son-in-law, Erica McCarty-Alvarez and Jose' Dimas Alvarez of Winston; two sons, Charles McCarty and Denson McCarty of Douglasville; his wife, Roseanne Matthews;  and his precious grandchildren, Gracie McCarty, Adian McCarty, and Esteban Alvarez.  Also surviving are his brothers, Dennis (Carlene) McCarty(and their 2 daughters) of Douglasville and Jody (Jessica) McCarty (and 3 sons) of Winston; his sisters, Rhonda (Mark) Brown (and their 3 sons) of Dawsonville, Tammy (Ted) Brooks (and their 3 children) of Winston, Nora (Tracy)  McCarty Bell (and their 2 daughters) of Douglasville, and Janet (Osvaldo) McCarty Castellanos (Jose Sanchez and their son Dalton "Salty Dog" Sanchez) of Douglasville; as well as a number of great nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, Phillip will be cremated.  The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date.
