Obituary

Peggy Thompson Ott, age 83 of Buchanan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2024.  Born in Carroll County on January 23, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Marion Monroe Thompson and the late Dessie Smith Thompson.  In addition to her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Richard Ott, and her son, Sammy Biggers.

As so many of others from this area did, Peggy worked as a seamstress for many years at the Hubbard Company, Sewell Manufacturing and Turners.  Her most relaxing hobby was working in her flower garden.  Peggy loved flowers and would pluck a beautiful flower wherever she saw them. Her love of nature was evidenced by the multitude of birds she fed and by her love of her constant companion, Rusty the dog, and her cat, Terra. An accomplished artist, Peggy worked with acrylic paint to create beautiful pictures.  She loved her family dearly, especially her great-grandchildren.

Peggy's survivors include her daughter, Susan Biggers of Carrollton; her grandchildren, Brandon Scott Overby and his wife, Julie Norton Overby, and Anna Kaitlyn Scudder; and her precious great-grandchildren, Brayden Lee Holdbrooks and Jackson Scott Overby.  Also surviving are her stepchildren, Cyndi York and Steven Ott, as well as other family and friends.

Graveside services for Peggy Ott will be conducted on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Bremen.

A celebration garden party for Peggy will be hosted by the family at a later date.

Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the Ott family.
