Mr. Norman Eugene Heatherington, age 84, of Tallapoosa, GA, passed away on January 30, 2010. Born in Orlando, Florida, he served for 3 years in WWII as a Sergeant in the USMC Pacific fleet. He received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Florida in 1948 and became a successful dairyman with a long track record of community service. He served as president of Haralson County Farm Bureau, founding president of Rolling Hills Resource and Conservation District, president of Miss Georgia Dairies, director of Dairymen Incorporated, Irvindale Dairies, American Dairy Association of Georgia, Atlanta Dairy Council, and Dairy Council of Georgia; director of West Georgia Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors, director of The Commercial Bank, and director of Higgins General Hospital for 22 years. He received numerous milk quality, conservation, and farm achievement awards. He was teacher of the men''s class at Tallapoosa First United Methodist Church, where he also served on the finance committee, administrative board, and chairman of the Pastor-Parish Relations committee. He is survived by his wife, Frankie; daughter Pamela Kinzey and her husband Robert, Winterville, GA; son Edward, his wife Donna, and grandson John, Greenville, SC; son Brian, Tallapoosa, GA; brother Mark and his wife Claire, Orlando, FL; 3 nieces, 1 nephew, 1 cousin. He was predeceased by his sister, Irene Heatherington. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 3 at First United Methodist Church, Tallapoosa at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. As an option to flowers, contributions may be made to Tanner Hospice, Carrollton, GA.
