Mr. Noel Edward Cook, Sr., age 83, of Buchanan passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009. Mr. Cook was born in Haralson County on May 2, 1926. He was the son of the late James Henry Cook, Sr. and the late Mollie Key Cook. Mr. Cook was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II and of the United States Army serving in Korea. He was retired form Lockheed and served eight consecutive terms as Mayor of Buchanan. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edris Lee Cook; one son, Mark "Doodle" Cook; and two brothers, Charles Cook and James Henry Cook, Jr. Survivors include one daughter, Belinda Cook Buchanan of Ranburne, AL; two sons, Eddie Cook of Buchanan and Jimmy Randall Cook of Cedartown; one brother, Carl Cook of Marietta; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ricky Shirley, Rev. Rocky Rochester and Rev. Buddy Gentry officiating. Interment services will follow on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
