Mr. Nicholas L. Cox, Jr., age 73, of Buchanan passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Mr. Cox was born in Griffin on November 14, 1938. He was the son of the late Nicholas L. Cox, Sr. and the late Nellie McCullough Cox. Mr. Cox was a retired school teacher, having retired from the Douglas County Schools and was a longtime Sunday School teacher at Tallapoosa East Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Payton Cox of Buchanan; niece, Rebecca Harris; nephew, Phillip Payton; great nieces, Emily Harris, Anna Harris and Lexi Payton; great nephews, Skylar Payton, Caleb Payton, Evan Harris and Matthew Harris; special nephews, John Crossley and Andrew Crossley; and other family members, Ray and Linda Crossley and Michael Harris.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 5, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Holmes officiating. Music will be furnished by Rev. W.A. Ivie. Entombment will follow in the Forest Lawn Mausoleum with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Phillip Payton, Ray Crossley, John Crossley, Michael Harris, Evan Harris, Caleb Payton, Skylar Payton and Andrew Crossley.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
