Mr. Mosey Cheatwood, age 91, of Buchanan passed away Monday, June 13, 2016.  Mr. Cheatwood was born in Muscadine, Alabama on September 5, 1924.  He was the son of the late John Daniel Cheatwood and the late Minnie V. Sanders Cheatwood.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Mason Cheatwood; six sisters, Jewell Wells, Bertha Cheatwood, Annie White, Jennie Ruth Lance, Etha Belle Bentley and Kathleen Davis; two brothers, J.D. Cheatwood and Will Cheatwood; one grandchild, Dewayne Randall Ellis; and one son-in-law, Randy Ellis.

Mr. Cheatwood was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. During his service he served in the Ardennes (Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland and Central Europe.  He earned the EAME Service Medal with three bronze service stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.  He was retired from Warren Sewell Clothing Company.

Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Mullins of Buchanan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin and Elaine Cheatwood of Oxford, AL and Marvin and Janet Cheatwood of Buchanan; grandchildren, Angie and Mark McCall, Kelly Wheeler, Valerie and Dave Winfrey, Amy and Brian Middlebrooks, Joseph and Hannah Mullins, Daniel and Nikki Mullins, Regina and Doug Patnode, Brian Cheatwood and Brittany Wilkerson; twenty five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Brannon and Bro. Ricky Shirley officiating. Interment will follow in Tallapoosa East Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Brian Cheatwood, Joseph Mullins, Daniel Mullins, Doug Patnode, Isaiah Potts and Mike Reeves.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
