Mary Ruth Woody McElreath, age 73 of Bremen, passed away peacefully Monday, April 21, 2025, at her home.  Born in Fulton County on July 5, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Hoyt and Nellie Woody.  In addition to her parents, Mary Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Eulis McElreath, and a brother-in-law, Mack Cantrell.

A deeply devoted woman of faith, Mary Ruth enjoyed attending church at Truth Baptist Church.  Singing gospel songs was one of her favorite pastimes, and for years, she was a part of the singing Woody Family.  Mary Ruth enjoyed watching Hallmark movies, reading when she was able, and being around horses.  Her family was her passion, and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby and Bradley Walker of Tallapoosa, Rebecca Smith of Waco, and Mary Ann (Thomas Toombs) McElreath of Bremen; her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Ashley McElreath of Waco; and her precious grandchildren: Charles (Alanna) Smith, Jr, Colin (Tori) Smith, Jazmine Smith, Brandon Meadows, Kansas Swartz, and Christmas Swartz.  Also surviving are her sisters and brothers-in-law, Sara and Andy Lance of Tallapoosa and Nancy and Danny Williams of Bremen; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. McElreath will be conducted at 3:00 PM on  Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Brother Ryan Williams and Pastor Toby Powers officiating.  She will be laid to rest in the Dugdown Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Brad Walker, Charles Smith, Jr., Colin Smith, Brandon Meadows, Kevin Williams, John Gammon, and honorary pallbearer, Thomas Cochran

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM.
