Mrs. Mary Bernice Hand Stephenson, age 82 of Bremen, passed away Monday, December 6, 2021, in a local hospital.  Born on June 10, 1939, in Miami, FL, she was the daughter of the late Annie Mae Hand and the late Walter Guy Hand.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Stephenson; a son, Larry Stephenson; three brothers, Milton Hand, Walter Hand, and Kenneth Hand; and a grandchild, Matthew Stephenson.

Mary retired from Newton General Hospital where she enjoyed helping people in her position as registration clerk.  She loved doing for others and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a talented musician, playing the piano and organ for her church in Miami and was also a gifted seamstress.

Survivors include her husband, James "Jim" Stephenson of Bremen; daughters, Cheri McDaniel of Temple, GA, and Denise Stephenson of Bremen; a son, Mike Stephenson of Buchanan; and a brother, Tommy Hand of Eatonton, GA.  Mary is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Kayla Stephenson, LeAnn Rutledge, Jessica Moore, Heaven Stephenson, Joey Stephenson, Kevin Haney, and Charles "Bubba" Ridley; nine great- grandchildren: Alyssa, Mallory, Anna, Lili, Cailee, Aria, Aaliyah, Parker, Kathryn, Allee,  Jaxson, Chaise, Nate, Matt, Brentley, Mason, and Joseph;  and nephews, Glen Hand, Mark Hand, and Derrick Hand.

Memorial services for Mrs. Mary Stephenson and Larry Stephenson will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Patty Hutcheson officiating.  Her family will receive friend from 3:00 until the funeral hour.
