Martha Ann Stephens

Martha Ann Griffin Stephens passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, adventure, and devotion that will be cherished forever in the hearts of those who knew her. Born on August 28, 1938, in Kaiser, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Leslie Floyd Griffin and the late Annie Sullivan Griffin. Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Glenn Stephens, Sr.

Martha had a passion for discovering new places and sharing life’s wonders. Alongside her husband, she traveled all over the world, creating lasting memories and countless stories that became treasured family lore. At home she enjoyed gardening and cooking. Spending time with her close friends, affectionately known as the "Angels", was also one of her favorite pastimes. Martha’s life was—as those who knew her will remember—a beautiful mosaic of laughter, discovery, and cherished moments. Her gentle strength and the gracious way she lived will long be an inspiration to all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Martha is survived by her loving children: her son, Thomas Glenn Stephens, Jr. and his wife Michelle, of Woodstock; her daughter, Leslie Colvard, and son-in-law Gary of Rainesville, Alabama; and her daughter, Laurel Lyons, and son-in-law Frank, of Bremen. Her circle of love extended further, embracing her precious grandchildren who called her "Mimi": Trey (Caroline) Stephens, Lindsey (Austin) Stephens, Christopher Colvard, Matthew Lyons, Joseph Lyons, Clay (Amanda) Colvard, Kyle (Michelle) Colvard, Mitch Lyons, and Nick (Kim) Lyons; and her great-grandchild, Thomas Glenn "Ford" Stephens, IV.   Also surviving are her brother, Douglas (Sue) Griffin of Selma, Alabama; her sisters: Lonnie Weldon of Osceola, Arkansas, Linda Western of Collierville, Tennessee, and Sherry Hawkins of Heber Springs, Arkansas; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

A Memorial Gathering to honor Martha's life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from Noon to 1:30 PM at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory in Buchanan, Georgia. Following the visitation, a graveside memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM at Hollywood Cemetery in Tallapoosa, Georgia, with Reverend Connie Tuttle officiating. Family and friends are invited to remember, honor, and celebrate Martha Ann Stephens—a woman whose love touched so many and whose memory will remain a blessing always.
