Mark Everett Smith, age 59 of Buchanan, passed away suddenly on February 18, 2023, in a local hospital.  He was born on April 25, 1963, in Cedartown, GA, to the late Shirley Smith George.  In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa LeeAnn Smith, a son, Marcus Allen Smith, and a brother, Michael Shaughnessy.  Mark was a graduate of Douglas County High School and worked as an installer with Quality Overhead Garage Doors.  Always a hard worker,  he also enjoyed golf in his spare time and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Mary Ilene Smith Echols of Bremen; a sister, Denise Hernandez of Buchanan; and a brother, Thomas Callahan of Florida.  Also surviving is his granddaughter, Melissa Faye Van Winkle, an aunt, Florence Eller of Buchanan, an uncle, James Smith of Lithia Springs, a cousin, Vince Smith, and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family.

In accordance with his wishes, Mark E. Smith will be cremated.
