Mrs. Mamie Lorene Brown Hurston, age 92, of 582 Waterworks Rd., Bremen passed away Saturday, February 24, 2007. Mrs. Hurston was born in Jefferson County, Alabama on December 26, 1914. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Franklin Brown and the late Jessie Caldonia Hazelwood Brown. Mrs. Hurston was a homemaker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Lee Hurston; two sons, Hugh Larry Hurston and J.W. Hurston; two sisters, Vera Tillery and Oliva Daniell; four brothers, Carl Brown, William Brown, Edward Brown and J.F. Brown. Survivors include three daughters, Jessie Lee Weaver of Buchanan, Betty Jo Smith of Bremen and Imogene Hurston of Bremen; three sons, Joseph Edward Hurston of Bremen, Sterling Hurston of Buchanan and Elisha Hurston of Bremen; three sisters, Avis Weaver of Marietta, Gladys Weaver of Buchanan and Pauline Brown of Buchanan; one brother, J.W. Brown of Buchanan; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 26, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. from the Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Merle Barron, Rev. Howard Locklear and Dr. Marion Hurston officiating. Music will be rendered by the Fellowship Baptist Church Choir accompanied by Joan Brown. A special song will be by Wanda Westmoreland. Interment will follow in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Billy Miller, Danny West, Benny Weaver, Calvin Smith, Ron Duckworth and Jimmy Hunt. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Noah Robinson, Isaiah West, Dekota Duckworth, Grace West, Alexus Robinson and Mathew Hurston. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
