Mrs. Mabel Ellen Hoover Phebus, age 80, of Buchanan passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015.  Mrs. Phebus was born in Anne Arundel County, Maryland on April 15, 1934.  She was the daughter of the late Theodore Hoover, Sr. and the late Mabel Catherine Smith Hoover. Mrs. Hoover worked for many years and retired as the school secretary of Belle Grove Elementary School in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Chester Phebus; and four brothers, Theodore Hoover, Jr., Louis Hoover, Vernon Hoover and William P. Hoover.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathy and her husband, Mike Owens of Buchanan; one son, Jeffrey Phebus of Catonsville, MD; one brother, Donald G. and his wife, Viva Hoover of Whitwell, TN; one sister-in-law, Nancy Hoover of Glen Burnie, MD; three grandchildren, Cory Foster, Karie Daniel and Jennifer Tolbert; two great grandchildren, Katelynn Daniel and Madison Tolbert; and a number of other relatives.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.

Memorial services in Maryland will be conducted at a later date.
