Delphia Louise Swofford Davenport, age 96 of Tallapoosa, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024, in a local hospital.  She was born on November 27. 1927, to the late Isaac Swofford and the late Bertha Mae White Swofford.  In addition to her parents, Louise is preceded in death by her husband, J.K. Davenport; daughters, Nellie Jane Lankford and Bertha Harris, sons John Davenport and Jim Davenport,  grandchildren, Pam, Jimmy, Cheryl, and Josh, and her many brothers and sisters.

Louise loved living life.  She was a wonderful story teller who loved to talk and could strike up a conversation with anyone.  A sweet lady, Louise was also very feisty.  One of her guilty pleasures was drag racing, an activity she took up when living in Virginia.  In her early 70's, she blew her engine in her Chevy Lumina when she was drag racing up Highway 120.  For many years, Louise was a member of the Buchanan Lions Club, and she was the last living member of the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Gail Swann of Tallapoosa and Barbara (Jim) Smith of Lilburn; grandchildren: Gaye, Chuck, Cindy, Lori, Melinda, Mike, Gary, and Shane; and a number of great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Funeral services for Louise Davenport will be conducted Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 2:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel.  She will be laid to rest in the Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
