Lisa Mason Cox

Lisa Elaine Mason Cox, age 58 of Buchanan, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, after a brief illness. Born on October 19, 1967, she was the only daughter of the late Luther and Rosie Lee Burns Mason.  In addition to her parents, Lisa is preceded in death by her son, Alex Cade Cox; her brother, Larry "Rabbit" Mason; and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth "Liz" Mason.

Lisa was a 1985 graduate of Haralson County High School.  She also attended West Georgia Technical College where she graduated in 1993 with a degree in Business Administration.  Lisa loved the Lord and loved being in church. Her spiritual gift was being a prayer warrior.  She dearly loved her church family at The Church at Piney Woods, formerly known as End Time Warriors for Christ.  Lisa made friends  with anyone she met and loved everyone with her whole heart.  Her faith and her precious family were the world to Lisa.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 30 years, James "Jim" Cox of Buchanan, and their children and spouse, Jacob (Mathew) and Joelton of Buchanan; and her brother, Danny Mason, and his wife, Vickie Mason of Buchanan.  Also left in her passing are her sisters-in-law and their spouses, Patricia (Michael) Hatfield, Vicki (Phillip) Mayes, Paul (Joyce) Cox, and Eddie (Kathy) Cox; her nieces and nephews and their spouses, Dana Mason (Chris) Cox, Tangi Dewberry, Cassie Mason, Sandy Sears, Jay (Robin) Mason, Triston (Jordan) Mason, Jazlyn Cox, Ariana Cox, Landree Dewberry, LaDarius Dewberry, Caleb Lillard, Jaylee Mason, Tyler Ivey, Jamison Mason, Carleigh Hardin, and Carissa Hardin.

Funeral services for Lisa Cox will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Pastor Ricky Shirley along with her brother Pastor Danny Mason officiating.  Special music will be provided by Ashton Purser.  She will be laid to rest at Piney Woods Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Chris Cox, Jeremy Goolsby, Buddy McKibben, Clint Peugh, Phil Pledger, Jay Mason and Triston Mason, and honorary pallbearers:  LaDauris Dewberry and Caleb Lillard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
