Mr. Lewis Edwin Davenport, age 86, of 5453 Hwy. 120, Buchanan passed away Friday, July 4, 2008. Mr. Davenport was born in Haralson County on March 27, 1922. He was the son of the late Albert Herschel Davenport and the late Addie Watson Davenport. Mr. Davenport was a World War II veteran of the United States Army Air Corp., was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a farmer. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sibyl Summer Davenport; and sister, Betty Derrick. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Eddie Cook of Buchanan and Marie and Mike Bartliff of Atlanta; one son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Kitty Davenport of Huntsville, AL; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Evelyn Smith of Bremen, Ann Riggs of Bremen, Faye and John Adams of Lyons, Melba Davenport of Buchanan and Frances and Bobby Dowdy of Buchanan; one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Judy Davenport of Bowdon; six grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, July 7, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Dr. Terrell McBrayer officiating. Interment will follow in the Buchanan Cemetery.
