Lawrence Elliott Vickers, known to many as Larry, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 16, 1946, in the quiet town of Bleckley, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Lawrence Jones Vickers and the late Nora Vickers.
Larry was a proud high school graduate who went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Kent State University. His commitment to his country was exemplified through his military service; he enlisted in the U.S. Army in December 1969 and was honorably discharged in September 1972. Larry spent several years in Human Resources with Sony Music/CBS Records in Carrollton, where he contributed to the organization’s workforce and culture. Larry enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and was skilled in refinishing furniture. He was a keen observer of current affairs, enjoyed watching Fox News and was a member of the Haralson County Republican Party. Above all, Larry was a devoted family man and will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Wendy W. Vickers; his daughters, Jennifer (Andy) Finney, Michele Veitch, Erin (Joey Malone) Vickers, all of Bremen, and his son, Michael (Erin) Vickers of Sammamish, Washington; his precious grandchildren: Jenna (Blake) Muse, Drake (Macie Deems) Stepp, Haley (Jag) Garvin, Lauren (AJ Sanders) Veitch, Ashlyn Stepp, Trent Stepp, Elliott Vickers, Cassidy Vickers, and Jagger Veitch; and his great-grandchildren: Tucker, Jace, Blakely, and LouElla. Larry is also survived by his beloved sister, Carol Quesada of Bremen, and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Larry's family will receive friends on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel. His celebration of life will be conducted at 6:00 PM Friday with Reverend Bill Tidwell officiating.
