Obituary

Kent Lowell Gray, age 69 of Fruithurst, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in a local hospital.  Born in Haralson County, Georgia, on July 7, 1956, he was the son of the late Buford Lowell Gray and the late Jeanette Wade Mullins.  In addition to his parents, Kent was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Gray.

Kent grew up in the Corinth community, developed a love of working with wood, and became an extremely skilled carpenter.  His country roots also were seen in his ability to grow vegetables, fruits and even flowers.  He graciously shared his bounty of blueberries and vegetables with others.  Always enjoying being outside, Kent took pride in maintaining his yard in pristine condition.  He loved his family fiercely and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Katherine Craven Gray; his daughters, Lisa Moak of Fruithurst and Michelle Vaughn of Lineville, Alabama; his sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny & Amber Gray of Tallapoosa, Chris & Kezia Gray of Bremen, and Jonathan & Jennifer Gray of Tallapoosa; his sixteen precious grandchildren; and his nine great-grandchildren.  Also surviving are his sisters, Beverly & Terry Smith, Denise McAdams, and Shana Gray, all of Buchanan; his brothers, Denny & Renee Gray and Anthony Duke, all of Buchanan; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral services for Kent Gray will be conducted on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Corinth Baptist Church with his son Rev. Kenny Gray officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Craig Moak, Zachary Moak, Jesse Gray, Dalton Gray, Nick Vaughn, Jacob Kent, and Benji Gray.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel and on Friday morning at Corinth Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that contributions be made to help cover Kent's funeral expenses.  You may contribute online at our payment center, by check or by calling the office with credit card information.
