Mr. Jurdy Lee Payton, age 80, of Tallapoosa passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Mr. Payton was born in Haralson County on November 28, 1929. He was the son of the late Chester Payton and the late Maude Head Payton. Mr. Payton was a retired brick mason. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Byrice White Payton of Tallapoosa; three grandchildren, Tiffany Bailey, Sammy Bailey and Shaun Bailey; niece, Dawanda Brown; nephew, Jared Brown; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Buddy Gentry officiating. Music will be rendered by Rev. Buddy Gentry. Interment will follow in the Baptist Tabernacle Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Barry McClure, Randy McClure, Matthew Hobbs, Charles Head, Denny Gray, Johnny Nix and Byron Head. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
