Joanna Joyce "Joy" Rainey Ware, age 57 of Buchanan, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024.  Born in Rome, GA, she was the daughter of the late Billy Joe Rainey and the late Joyce Brannon Dobbs.  In addition to her parents, Joy is preceded in death by her brother, Joey Rainey.

Joy was a 1984 graduate of Haralson County High School.  Continuing her education, she graduated Floyd College with her degree in Nursing and was formerly a nurse/case manager with Vista Care Hospice.  In her leisure time, she enjoyed crafting and building "yard art."  She also enjoyed cooking and canning.  On the weekends Joy could be found antiquing.  A lover of animals, her constant companion was her dog, Boo.

Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Jamie and Charlie Thurman of Whitesburg, and parents, Larry and Arlene Dobbs of Felton. Also surviving are her nieces, Isabella and Hannah Rainey; nephews, Cody Rainey and Pearce Thurman; and several other family members.

A memorial service for Joy Rainey Ware will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Brannon officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
