Mr. Joseph Alexander Marcus, age 87, of Buchanan passed away Monday, May 16, 2011. Mr. Marcus was born in Columbia County, Florida on January 27, 1924. He was the son of the late Emery Marcus and the late Theresa Roberts Marcus. Mr. Marcus was a veteran of the United States Navy and was retired from Lockheed Aircraft. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Bozeman Marcus. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Sharon and Sonny Moon of Buchanan and Sandra Wade of Buchanan; two sons and daughters-in-law, James H. and Dee Marcus of Acworth and Joseph A. and Julie Marcus, Jr. of Kyle, TX; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jim Johnson of Cedarville, OH; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Florian Marcus of Ohio, Samuel and Erika Marcus of Chestertown, MD and Sally Marcus of Fredericksburg, Virginia; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. from Buchanan United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Rooks officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: James C. Marcus, Tyler T. Moon, Jordan Tilden, Ted Jones, Dan Connley and Hunter Still. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Friday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
