Mr. Joseph Carol Elkins, age 61, of 273 Park Heights St., Buchanan passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008. Mr. Elkins was born in Saint Landry Parish, Louisiana on February 18, 1947. He was the son of the late Joseph Bernice Elkins and the late Nelma Richard. Mr. Elkins was a veteran of the United States Navy and was retired from Ashland Chemical Company. Survivors include his wife, Gail Lucia Elkins of Buchanan; one daughter, Dawn Elkins of Buchanan; one son, Derek Joseph Elkins of Buchanan; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Danny Hutcheson officiating. Interment will follow in the Buchanan City Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Derek Elkins, Steven Rugato, Richard Lucia, Jesse Lucia, and Russell Smith. Military honors will be provided by the Haralson County Veterans Association. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
