Mr. Johnny Roy Brooks, Sr., age 67, of Buchanan passed away Monday, January 30, 2017.  Mr. Brooks was born in Thomaston, Georgia, on February 13, 1949.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy and was retired from Benton-Georgia where he worked as a foreman.  He was preceded in death by his father, Verlyn Brooks.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Ruth Braswell Brooks of Buchanan; four daughters and one son-in-law, Brandy Brooks, Melissa and Eric Hunt and Bianca Brooks all of Buchanan; one son, Johnny Brooks, Jr. of Buchanan; mother, Betty Searcy Brooks of Mount Zion; one sister, Diane Brooks of Mount Zion; four brothers, Marshall Brooks of Douglas, Kenny Brooks of Carrollton, Steve Brooks and Danny Brooks both of North Carolina; ten grandchildren, Lindsey Driver, Maizie Truett, River Truett, Trinity Brooks, Halee Brooks, Abbie Webb, Kaylee Webb, Ethan Hunt, Sommer Brooks and Westyn Brooks; four great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Bro. Shannon Gerlach officiating.  In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, following the service he will be cremated.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
