Waco, GA

John Henry Lepard, age 86 of Waco, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.  Born in Haralson County, he was the son of the late Harvey L. Lepard and the late Lily M. Stephens Lepard.  In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his daughter, Starla Watts; his son, Scott Lepard; his granddaughter, Courtney Watts; and his sisters: Kitty Nixon, Welma Orr, Evelyn Williams, Virginia Kelley, and Frances Pope.

A wonderful husband and father, John was a proud patriot.  Serving in the United States Army from 1963 - 1965, he and Sandra spent 2 years in Germany.  John was employed in many different jobs, but his last work was his favorite work - farmer.  He took care of over a hundred head of cattle and also had several chicken houses.  He also enjoyed grocery shopping and cooking what he bought.  He and Sandra loved camping, and their favorite spots were Vicksburg in the Amish country and Noccalula Falls Campground in Gadsden. An avid reader, John visited the Tallapoosa Library each week and sometimes had as many as 40 books to read in a week.  His quiet and peaceful nature will be dearly missed by his loved ones.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 67 years, Sandra Strickland Lepard; his son, Steven (Zabrina) Lepard; his brother-in-law, Jimmy Strickland; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service for John Lepard will be conducted at New Hope Methodist Church.  Date and time will be announced later.

Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the Lepard family.
