John "Johnny" Henry Vines, age 70 of Buchanan, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. He was born on October 21, 1951, in Cedartown to the late John Henry Vines, Sr. and the late Lizzie Mae Hulsey Vines. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Opal Leatherwood Vines.

Johnny was retired from the Maintenance Department of the University of West Georgia and worked as an Expeditor.  He enjoyed researching family history and "piddling," as he considered himself  "a Jack of all trades".  Traveling was another pastime of Johnny's, and visiting family was his favorite destination.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jason Hudgens of Buchanan; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Tracey Vines of Buchanan; four grandchildren, Laurel Vines, Lanie Vines, Alyssa Hudgens and Addison Hudgens, and several other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 11:00 AM, from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Brother Jason Hudgens and Brother Jamie Hutcheson officiating. Interment will follow in New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Jason Callihan, Josh Cash, John Dobbs, Ronnie Dingler, Mike Smith and Wade Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Freddie Hulsey and Cecil Hulsey. He will lie in state on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour at the funeral home.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 29, 2022, at the funeral home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
