Mr. John Francis Collins, age 72, of San Jose, California passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2007. Mr. Collins was born July 13, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York. He worked in civil service at the Presidio of San Francisco for many years after retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel with twenty years active service with the United States Army. Mr. Collins served two tours in Vietnam. He was also a dedicated Altar Server in his Church for many years and instructed many young men in the grace and dignity of this office. Survivors include his wife, Edith Head Collins of San Jose, CA; children, Richard (Teresa) of Colorado Springs, CO, Cathy Meagher (Tim) of Littleton, CO, John (Christine) of Sacramento, CA, Sister Mary Joseph, F.M. (Suzanne) of Round Top, NY; twelve grandchildren; and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted from the Graveside at the Buchanan City Cemetery Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Father Bouchard officiating. Interment will follow in the Buchanan City Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Haralson County Veterans Association. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
