Joanne Burnett

Joanne S. Burnett, age 68 of Bremen, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026.  Born in Temple, Georgia, on April 10, 1958, she was the daughter of the late Preston Summerville and the late Eula Jenkins Summerville.  In addition to her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by 6 sisters and 6 brothers.

For many years, Joanne joyfully worked as a server at Gwen's Family Restaurant in Buchanan.  She had a sweet spirit and was always willing to help anyone any way she could. Joanne loved all God's creatures and beautiful flowers.  Her family was her pride and joy, especially her grandsons who affectionately called her "Nanny." Her loving personality and kindness will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, Edward "Clenton" Burnett; her daughter and son-in-law, April & Chad Brown of Bremen; her precious grandchildren Adam & Christen Brown and Jarrett Brown.  Also surviving are sisters, Kathy Burgess and Gladys Jackson; her brothers Jimmy Summerville, Wayne Summerville, and her nephew whom she called her brother, Mickey Summerville; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel.

The funeral service for Joanne will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 6th, at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Brother Ricky Shirley officiating.  Interment will follow in the Ephesus Christian Church Cemetery in Whitesburg.
