Joann Womack McDougal, age 87 of Five Points, Alabama, formerly of Buchanan, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024, at her residence.  Born on September 12, 1936, in Rockmart, she was the daughter of the late Harvey Marvin Womack and the late Annie Lou Crumpton Womack.  In addition to her parents, Joann is preceded in death by her husband, Robert McDougal, and her brother, Butch Womack.

Joann was employed as an accountant in the finance department of Lockheed Martin in Marietta where she retired after more than 30 years.  Her devotion to her family was her passion, as she was a single mom taking care of her four children and yet never missed a day of work. An avid reader, she also enjoyed watching the hummingbirds and working in her flowers.  Her guilty pleasure was watching old westerns.  The peacemaker and glue that held the family together, Joann enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her family.  Sunday dinners, where she prepared all the family favorites, were full of fellowship and fun. Joann will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Brumley of Cumming, Dondra & Butch Mooney of Carrollton, and Diana & Barry Stephens of Five Points, Alabama; her son, Alan R. Dorsett of Five Points, Alabama; her sister, Bazz Hutcheson of Villa Rica; and her brother, Jimmy (Lynn) Womack of Oxford, Alabama.  Also surviving are her grandchildren: Melissa Lauren Blauser, Ryan Joshua Brumley, David Mooney, Terina Sorrell, Tyler Mooney, Leslie Cowart, Caleb Miles Dorsett, Cameron Lee Carluccio, Douglas Bryant Bailey, and Darick Lee Bailey; seventeen great-grandchildren and twelve great great-grandchildren; as well as other family and friends.

A memorial graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. from Tallapoosa East Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Ward officiating.
