Mr. Jimmy Ray Tyra, age 77, of Buchanan passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017.  Mr. Tyra was born in Phil Campbell, Alabama, on November 13, 1939.  He was the son of the late William Roy Tyra and the late Myrtle Lou Holcombe Tyra.  Mr. Tyra was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a retired printing press operator.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Turner and Sue Nell Connor.

Survivors include his wife, Carole Peek Tyra of Buchanan; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David and Lynda Tyra of Dallas and Jeffrey Tyra of Muscadine, AL; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Royce and Elizabeth Tyra of Carrollton and Tommy and Diane Tyra of Buchanan; three grandchildren, Ivory Tyra, Sydney Tyra and Jimmy Brandon Tyra; three great grandchildren, Alli Tyra, Tucker Tyra and Talon Tyra; and a number of other relatives.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, January 14, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. from New Canaan Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Aaron Johnson officiating.  Music will be rendered by Katie Williams.  In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, he was cremated.
