Jimmy Kenneth Summerville, age 86 of Bremen, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 1, 2026. Born in Haralson County, Georgia, on July 4, 1939, he was the son of the late Chalmus Summerville and the late Mary Frankie Weaver Crawford. In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his daughter, Shelley Summerville Watts; his sister, Lucy Carter; and his brothers, Joe Summerville, Cecil Summerville and Doug Summerville.
A hard working man, Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Army and spent more than 30 years with Norfolk Southern Railroad as a train engineer. Always a country boy at heart, he enjoyed fishing and working in his garden. One of his favorite pastimes was feeding and watching the birds in his yard. A devoted family man, Pawpaw, his favorite title, cherished his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, as well as his beloved wife of 67 years, Sarah. A man of faith, Jimmy was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. His work ethic and love of family will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Sarah Boyce Summerville of Bremen; his daughter and son-in-law, Sonda & Mark Reed of Bremen; his precious grandchildren: Trey McAlpin, Seth Reed, Jordyn Elliott, and Lacey Watts; and his beautiful great-granddaughter, Scarlett Watts. Also surviving are his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne & Vera Summerville of Cedartown; a number of nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Jimmy Summerville will be conducted on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Pastor Marty Hulsey officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
