Mr. Jimmy Martin Smith, age 57, of 2587 Corinth-Poseyville Rd., Bremen passed away suddenly Monday, February 12, 2007. Mr. Smith was born in Polk County on January 16, 1950. He was the son of the late Jim Frank Smith and Amelia Martin Smith Sanders of Jasper. Mr. Smith was very involved in agribusiness and was the owner of Smith Farms and Trucking and Smith Fencing Company, a current Haralson County Commissioner, Member of the Haralson County Development Authority, President of the Haralson County Farm Bureau, Chairman of the Board of the USDA Farm Services Agency for Haralson, Carroll, Paulding, Douglas and Fulton Counties, Past President of the Haralson County Cattlemen''s Association, member of the Haralson County Wildlife Association, 4-H Volunteer, Boy Scout Leader and Eagle Scout, and member of the Haralson County Chamber of Commerce. Survivors besides his mother include his wife, Dr. Martha Gillham Smith of Bremen; one sister, Kathy Smith of Marietta; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, David "Mutt" and Nancy Smith of Jasper, Joey Smith of Powder Springs and Johnny and Glenda Smith of Bremen; step-mother, Irene Smith of Tallapoosa; mother-in-law, Lucile Gillham of Bremen; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, February 15, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. from the Bremen First Baptist Church with Dr. Stanley McCain, Danny Hutcheson, Scott Stover, Doug Stitcher and Dr. Shirley Garrett officiating. Music will be rendered by Kersha Cartwright. Interment will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jason Smith, Scott Stover, Paul Gillham, Dave Pollard, Rob Walker, Doug Stitcher, Todd Smith and Van Pelt. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Members of the Haralson County Board of Commissioners; Members of the Board of the Haralson County Development Authority; Members of the Board of the Haralson County Farm Bureau; Employees of Smith Farms and Trucking and Smith Fencing Company; Edward Boyce, Cecil Tuggle, Danny Crook, Starling Waddell, Carole Lovvorn and Keith Brown. The visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. in the Sanctuary of the Bremen First Baptist Church. Messages of condolence may be posted at www.hutchesonsmemorialchapel.com Standing watch at the casket will be the Haralson County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Haralson County 4-H Club, Haralson County Wildlife Association, Atlanta Area Boy Scout Council or Friends of the Buchanan Library. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
