Jesse Ray Thompson

Mr. Jesse Ray Thompson, age 84 of Buchanan, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Paulding County on August 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Horace Lee Thompson and the late Coraline Morris Thompson.

Growing up in the country, Jesse was a simple man who enjoyed being out in nature. He spent many hours deer hunting and fishing. In the spring and summer, he could be found in his vegetable garden or in his yard working. Jesse retired from Southwire where he worked as a machine operator. His warm spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

His survivors include his wife of 62 years, Claudia Blackmon Thompson of Buchanan; his children and their spouses, Lisa & Edward Howle of Heflin and Troy & Rachel Thompson of Buchanan; his precious grandsons: Zach & Morgan Thompson, Jacob & Heather Thompson, Joseph & Natalie Thompson, and Luke Thompson; and also 3 great-grandchildren: Sadie, Willow, and Daisy.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. from Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Elder Eddie Davidson officiating.

Private Interment will follow in Piney Woods Community Cemetery with Edward Howle, Spencer Sheffield, Zach Thompson, Jacob Thompson, Joseph Thompson, and Luke Thompson serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, prior to the service, from 11A.M. until the funeral hour.
