Obituary

Jerry "Pappy" Hagan, age 84 of Bremen, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 2, 2025.  Born in Buchanan, Georgia, on March 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Mason Charles "Jack" Hagan and the late Zula Carroll Hagan.  In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his siblings: Bobbie Sue Hagan Smith, Charles Hagan, and Paul Hagan.

Jerry and Barbara were 17 years old when they fell in love and married  in 1958.  Their love story has lasted for 67 years and welcomed two sons, Randy and Richard.  A hard working man, Jerry retired from Southwire after 37 years as a Maintenance Foreman.  In his retirement, he has loved fishing, gardening and cutting grass.  A devoted family man, Pappy truly loved spending time with his family.  A long time member of Union Grove Baptist Church, Jerry served as a deacon and clerk.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Barbara Ploof Hagan; his sons and daughter-in-law, Randy & Terri Hagan of Bremen and Richard Hagan of Whitesburg; his precious grandchildren who affectionately called him "Pawpaw",  Keily Austin, Benjamin Hagan, Alicia Wynn, Hayley Hutcheson, Erin Hagan, and Cooper Hagan; and his great-grandchildren: Finney and Gemma Austin, Rhylynn and Wylder Hagan, Addyson and Ethan Wynn, and Kaiden and Cameron Hutcheson.  Also surviving are his sister Paulette Evans Davis of Buchanan; his brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Betty Hagan of Draketown; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Jerry Hagan will be conducted on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Brother Ralph Ploof and Brother Jon Smith officiating.  Jerry will be laid to rest at Union Grove Baptist Church in Felton with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Scott Ploof, Donald Ploof, Benjamin Hagan, Cooper Hagan, Kolby Jarrett, and Anthony Sims.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home from 11:00 until the funeral hour.
