Jerry Franklin Brown, age 84 of Buchanan, passed away peacefully Friday, May 30, 2025. Born in Buchanan on November 20, 1940, he was the son of the late Henry Marvin Brown and the late Jewell Holcombe Brown. In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Agan Brown, his sister, Shirley Ayers, and his brothers, Carl Brown and Jim Brown.
After graduating Buchanan High School, Jerry spent over 30 years working with the Georgia Department of Transportation. Playing golf with his family and friends was how he enjoyed spending his time. In the summer, Jerry always had a beautiful vegetable garden, as well as flower gardens year round. He enjoyed decorating his yard for the holidays, and many school children were delighted to see his Halloween and Christmas decorations each year. "Buddy" loved his family and his little dog, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
His survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Brown, and son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Tammy Kittle, all of Buchanan; and his precious grandchildren: Lindsey Kittle, Bryan Kittle, and Nevaeh Nelson. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
Funeral services for Jerry Brown will be conducted Monday, June 2, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Reverend Dr. Allen Wilburn and Reverend Kevin Ayers officiating. The family will received friends at the funeral home from Noon until 2:00. He will be laid to rest in the Buchanan City Cemetery.
