Janice M. Price, age 77 of Draketown, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 30, 2024, at her residence.  Born in Paulding County on December 12, 1946, she was the only child of the late Taft Melear and the late Vera Buchanan Melear.

A graduate of Buchanan High School, Janice married the love of her life, Howard, on November 18, 1966.  She loved taking care of her family and could cook the best mac & cheese and Mississippi Mud.  Traveling with her family to the beach or Lake Wedowee was a favorite pastime, as was going on cruises with Howard.  A very patient mama, Janice spent hours putting together puzzles and reading.  That patience carried over in to her love of fishing and lengthy card games.  Janice also enjoyed shopping and dancing with Howard. However, Nana's passion was spending time with her family and playing games with them.  She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 58 years, Howard Price; her son and daughter-in-law, H. Scott & Alice Price of Bremen; her daughter and son-in-law, Tammi & Kelly Smith of Temple; and her precious grandchildren: Danielle Smith, Kelsey (Clifford) Brown, Thomas Price and John Davis.  Also surviving are her great-grandchildren: Clifford Brown, Jr, Caleb Brown, and Paisley Prichard, as well as many extended family and friends.

Funeral services for Janice Price will be conducted on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 2:00 PM from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Brannon and Mary Clay officiating. Janice will be laid to rest at Draketown Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Thomas Price, John Davis, Clifford Brown, Sr, Clifford Brown, Jr, Caleb Brown, Josh Clay, and Jay Bryant.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.
