Ms. Janice White Akin, age 71, of Buchanan passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012. Ms. Akin was born in Haralson County on February 22, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Johnnie White and the late Maggie Worthy White. Ms. Akin was a homemaker. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Charles Akin and J.P. Bollen; sisters, Clora Brooks, Dorothy Lyle, Maedell Smith and Jackie Mullins; brothers, Junior White, Martin White and Ray White.

Survivors include her children, Angela and Tommy Williams, Tony Akin and Johnny and Cindy Akin all of Buchanan; step-children, Kristi Huffman Worthy and Darren Bollen all of Buchanan; one sister, Willene McBurnett; grandchildren, Chrissy Miller, Sharon Houston, Jessica Ginn, Ashley Thompson, Justin Akin, Chuck Williams, Hannah Williams, Corey Huffman, Josh Huffman and Brittany Huffman; twelve great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 22, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. from Baptist Tabernacle Church with Rev. Buddy Gentry and Rev. Joey Meeks officiating. Music will be rendered by Rev. Buddy Gentry. Interment will follow in Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Chuck Williams, Justin Akin, Corey Huffman, Josh Huffman, Chris Thompson and Ricky White.

The remains will lie in state at the Church from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
