Mr. James Starling Waddell, age 72, of Bremen passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Mr. Waddell was born in Haralson County, Georgia on January 1, 1944. He was the son of the late Starling Esker Waddell and the late Nora Lee Moore Waddell. Mr. Waddell worked for many years as a commercial industrial electrician with Mabry Electric Company. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah F. Waddell; two brothers, Jerry F. and his wife Earlene Waddell and Bobby L. and his wife Carolyn Waddell.
Starling was a man who loved his family. He loved life and lived it fully. He never met a stranger. Staling always had a smile and a joke for everyone.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Patterson Waddell of Bremen; one daughter, Melissa Waddell of Bremen; one son, Mark and his wife Pennie Waddell of Tallapoosa; two sisters, Mary Waddell of Bremen and Peggy and her husband Vince Hopper of Buchanan; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mariesa and Steve Hopper of Bremen; two grandchildren, Ashley Waddell and Justin Reeves; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 12, 2016 at 3:00 P.M. from Welcome Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Hamrick and Rev. Ralph Williams officiating. Music will be rendered by Bonnie Sanders. Interment will follow in District Line United Methodist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Willie Waddell, Steve Hopper, Eddie Robinson, Don Grimsley, Brian Pope and Jason Hamrick.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
