James Darren Topping, age 59 of Tallapoosa, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.  Born in Billenge, England, he was the son of the late James Topping and the late Patricia Taylor Topping.  In addition to his parents, Darren is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Charles Worthy.

Darren was raised in the town of Hindley, England, and lived the majority of his life in Wigan, England.  After schooling, he joined the British Army, a branch of the British Armed Forces.  Later in life, he met a small town girl from Haralson County, fell in love, and moved to the United States where they were married. Darren was employed by the University of West Georgia Police Department as a Locksmith.  In his leisure time, he enjoyed being outdoors, either camping with his family or working in his garden.  Working with his hands, Darren was also a skilled carpenter and could build almost anything. He loved his family fiercely and will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Heather Worthy Topping of Tallapoosa, his daughters and son-in-law, Kirsty and Alex Cox-Topping of England, and Lena Nutphum of Oregon; his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel & Marie Topping of England; his precious grandchildren: Penelope Topping and Joey Topping; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Stephen and Lone Topping of Denmark, Paul and Paula Topping and Mike and Helen Topping, all of England.  Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Sandra Worthy; his brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark & Deanne Worthy and Kevin Worthy, all of Tallapoosa, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

In accordance with Darren's wishes, he will be cremated.
