IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Oiin
Mcgukin
July 29, 1926 – August 7, 2022
Mr. James Olin McGukin, age 96 of Bremen, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 7, 2022, after a brief illness. Born in Carroll County on July 29, 1926, he was the son of the late Arthur McGukin and the late Gladys Drew McGukin. In addition to his parents, Olin is preceded in death by his wife, Lou McGukin, his daughter, Bonnie McGukin Headrick; his brothers Ben McGukin and Bernard McGukin, and grandchildren, Michelle Headrick Gazzuolo and Nathan Headrick.
Olin proudly served in the US Navy during World War II as a Seaman Second Class and was honorably discharged in 1946. He retired as a letter carrier with the U.S. Post Office, and he spent many years assisting his wife, Lou, in her flower shop. As an avid woodworker, he enjoyed many hours creating beautiful furniture. Never meeting a stranger, Olin always had a smile for everyone and sometimes a "Daffy Duck" voice for the youngsters. He was a devoted member of the Waco Church of Christ.
Olin is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David and Ardoth McGukin of Bremen; granddaughters, Anna & Gray Hamilton of Murphreesboro, TN, and Ada & George Dritsas of Marietta, GA; and six great-grandchildren, as well as a sister, Betty M. Gray of Bremen.
The family will host a graveside service at 10:30 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the Bremen City Cemetery.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. McGukin was cremated.
Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan is honored to serve the McGukin family.
