Mr. James Ralph Higgins, age 78, of 320 Carrollton St., Buchanan passed away Sunday, June 1, 2008. Mr. Higgins was born in Calhoun County, Alabama on March 5, 1930. He was the son of the late Robert Luther Higgins and the late Mamie Cook Brown. Mr. Higgins was a retired grocer. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, R.L. Higgins; sister, Judy Smith; and grandson, Lynn Golden. Survivors include his wife, Helen Bennett Higgins of Buchanan; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Jeff Sims of Clarksville, TN and Debra Higgins and Robert Allguire of Orlando, FL; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Dan Higgins of Norcross, Kenneth and Gail Higgins of Newnan, Jeff and Karen Higgins of Bremen and Robbie and Angela Higgins of Franklin; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Brenda Warren of Jacksonville, AL and Doris and Paul "Peanut" Ingebrigtsen of Muscadine, AL; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Walter "Gray" Higgins of Bremen and Fred and Kathy Hammond of Bremen; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 2, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Pastor Paul Ingebrigtsen and Danny Hutcheson officiating. The body will be cremated following the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel of Buchanan is in charge of the arrangements.
