Mr. James Wilburn Dees, age 80, of Rockmart passed away Monday, November 28, 2011. Mr. Dees was born in Cobb County on August 27, 1931. He was the son of the late Wesley Henry Franklin Dees and the late Elizabeth Prather Dees. Mr. Dees was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a retired Switch Foreman with L&N Railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Frey Dees of Rockmart; two daughters, Blaun Wiggins of Marietta and Martenla West of Rockmart; two sons, Joseph Dees of Bremen and Jim Dees of Heflin, AL; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. from Mountain View Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Weaver, Rev. Earl Partain, Sr. and Rev. Victor Benefield officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Kirk Sanders, Amos Sparks, Gerald Jones, Lewis Shirley, Randall Griggs and Bill McConnell. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Cross and Les Hayes.

Mr. Dees will lie in state at the Church for one hour prior to the funeral.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
