James Austin Bones, age 48 of Rockmart, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, after a valiantly fought battle with cancer. Born in Rockmart, Georgia, on December 19, 1977, he was the beloved son of John Michael Davis and the late Sue Ann Moore Bones. In addition to his mother, Jimmy is preceded in death by his sister, Wilma Bell.
An avid outdoorsman, Jimmy enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. For years, he worked as a carpenter and enjoyed working with his hands. His passion, though, was spending time with his granddaughter, Lainey. Jimmy will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memories are his partner, Amanda Riding; his daughters: Breanna Bones, Sara Riding, and Shayanna Riding; his sons: Dewayne Yeoman, James Austin Bones, Jr., Nathan Bones, and Felix Young; and his precious granddaughter: Parker Hernandez. His survivors also include his sisters: Stacy (Mark) Burdett, Joyce (William) Bryant, and Anita (Ben) Yeoman; his brothers: Tylon Brown and Mikey Davis; his aunts and uncles: Charlotte & Billy Tyson, Lynn Robinson, Tony Rudeseal, Faye Rudeseal, Lynn & Roger Parris, and Johnny Woodward; cousins: Johnny (Amber) Robinson and Jennifer Robinson; a number of nieces, nephews and lots of friends.
In honoring his wishes, James will be cremated. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation services are entrusted to Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel & Crematory of Buchanan.
