Jacqueline H. Mitchell Atkinson, age 80, a beloved figure of Temple, Georgia, sadly left our world on Saturday, April 25, 2026, after living a life richly lived in service and kindness.  She was known for teaching Sunday School, the bus ministry, a youth director, her object lessons, and kids missions.  Jackie was a beacon of light in our community, touching lives through her love of God and people. She strived to encourage everyone she met.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Loretta Mitchell of Binghamton, NY, her husband, M. Marvin Atkinson of Temple, and her sister Carol Fuller of Lutz, FL,

Surviving are her daughter, Christine Powell and husband Stephen, of Temple; her sisters: Nancy Germain of Wayland, Massachusetts, Jane Alamo of Poughkeepsie, New York, and Mary Deluca and husband Rich of Elmira, New York; an aunt, Louise Cole of Newark Valley, New York; special friend, Aaron Harris; and her constant companion, her dog Libby.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Corinth Baptist Church from 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM.  Funeral services will be conducted at the church at 3:00 PM with Don Edwards speaking and Brenda Massey delivering the eulogy.  Interment will follow in the Melrose Hill Memorial Park in Villa Rica.
