Hughland Gene Pruitt, age 64 of Felton, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, after a brief illness.  Born in Piedmont, Alabama, on February 25, 1960, he was the son of the late Aubrey Dean Pruitt and the late Bonnie Pauline Minter Pruitt.  In addition to his parents, Hughland is preceded in death by a son, C.J. Lowery, a granddaughter Taylor River Lowery, a sister, Kathy Pruitt Carlise, and a brother, Pete Pruitt.

Hughland was a tree surgeon for more than 45 years and loved every minute of his job.  At home in his spare time, he enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, working on small engines, and fishing.  Being out in a boat on the lake was pure pleasure for him.  One of his hobbies was listening to WKNG's Trade Line.  Everyday his asked for them to play his favorite song, "Just Good Ol' Boys."  Most of all, Hughland loved spending time with his family, especially listening to and singing along with his favorite oldies.

Left to cherish his memories are his sons and daughters-in-law, Chad & Jen Pruitt of Defuniak, Florida, Jay & Angel Lowery of Tallapoosa, and Hannah Lowery of Panama City Beach, Florida; and his daughter and partner, Misty Michelle Hefner & Aye Clay, of Temple.  Also surviving are his sisters, Gail Norton of Carrollton, Rhonda Prater of Bremen and Pat & Paul Seuss of Mt. Zion; his 14 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter on the way; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

In keeping with the family's wishes he will be cremated.

The family will host a memorial service at a later date.
