Mr. Howard Jessie Evans, age 84, of Buchanan, formerly of Carrollton, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013. Mr. Evans was born in Douglas County on August 12, 1929. He was the son of the late Jessie Mason Evans and the late Effie Covington Evans. Mr. Evans was veteran of the United States Army and was a retired as a self-employed lawn care company owner.

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Darlene Kee of Hogansville, Helen and Mac Waits of Heflin, AL, Patricia and Tony Johnson of Hogansville and Wanda and Joe Smith of Douglasville; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Margaret Evans of Roopville; thirteen grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. from Hutcheson''s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Thomas Harbuck, Rev. Frank Jenkins and Rev. Jacob Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Douglasville with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: E.J. Kee, Ronald Waits, Justin Evans, Dewayne Evans, Joseph Kee and Matthew Kee.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
