Horace Crawford Whitmore

Horace Crawford Whitmore, age 85 of the Dugdown Community, passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2026.  Born in Randolph County, Alabama, he was the son of the late Ellis Whitmore and the late Beulah Daniel Whitmore.  In addition to his parents, Horace is preceded in death by his siblings: Ralph Whitmore, Archie Whitmore, Ruby Roberts, Lee Whitmore, Flora Harper, and Thurman Whitmore.

A proud American Patriot, Horace was a United States Navy veteran.  He was employed in the trucking industry for many years and retired while working in a management capacity.  Horace was a sports fanatic and especially loved watching the Atlanta Braves play baseball and the Alabama Crimson Tide play football.  His smile and warm personality will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of 44 years, Faye Lee Whitmore; his children: Jan (Jim) Rogers, Jerry Whitmore, Shannon (Jennifer) Whitmore, Jack (Pam) Dempsey, and Jimmy (Lisa) Dempsey; and his precious grandchildren: Stephanie Pate, Kaytlynn (Neil) Dondanville, Ashley (Marc) Kamerad, Jennifer (Darrell) Phillips, Madison (Adam) O'Bryen, Landon Whitmore, and Gracin Whitmore.  He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Ray (Dinah) Whitmore and Windell (Olivia) Whitmore, and many nieces and nephews.

In honoring Mr. Whitmore's wishes, he will be cremated.  The family is planning a service at a later date.
