Henry Lewis
Bedford
July 8, 1929 – April 9, 2020
Henry Lewis Bedford was born, July 8, 1929 in Atlanta Georgia, the fourth child of the late Henry Bedford and Adna Corene Astin Bedford. He passed away in Cedartown GA on April 9, 2020 at 90 years of age.
A graveside service will be held Monday, April 13, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Bremen, GA. Henry's final resting place will be next to his wife, Sarah.
Henry proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
A resident for many years in the Riverdale, GA area, Henry was very active at Eastside Baptist Church where he enjoyed serving in many volunteer positions, as well as a Deacon, eventually becoming Deacon Emeritus. In 1987, he married Sarah Ann Hartley and they settled into life in Buchanan, GA. Sarah passed away in December 1993, and Henry continued living in Buchanan, enjoying membership at Bethel Baptist Church, and serving as Deacon Emeritus with that congregation.
A man of few words, Henry will be remembered for his love of God and country, missions outreach, his church, kindness toward others, friendliness, and his sweet disposition. An inquiry of Henry as to how he was doing always brought a response of, "Ninety-eight and two" meaning he was one hundred percent, regardless of physical difficulties or circumstances.
Through the years, Henry was privileged to participate in multiple international mission trips, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with people in Ukraine and Venezuela.
A long time Mason, Henry was recognized in July of 2017 for fifty years of participation. His most active years were spent in Riverdale Lodge No. 709.
Henry was predeceased by his wife, Sarah, and his daughter, Bonita "Bonnie" Ivy, his parents and siblings. Survivors include loving friends who were very precious to him, along with a son, David Bedford and his family.
