Homer Leonard Benefield, age 82 of Waco, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, May 18, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Buncombe on August 2, 1941, he was the son of the late Elder Homer Lewis Benefield and the late Katherine Robinson Benefield of Buncombe. In addition to his parents, Leonard is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Bentley Benefield, and a grandson, Larry Dwight Benefield, Jr.
Some would say Leonard was legendary for his basketball years at West Haralson High School. He was a "Jack of All Trades," brick/block mason, welder, mechanic, wood worker, and assembly line worker among many other things. He loved his bluegrass and country music. But most of all, he was Daddy !
Left to cherish his memories are son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Debbie Benefield of Buchanan, son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Toni Benefield of Buchanan, daughter, Melissa Robinson of Waco, son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Angie Benefield of Roanoke, AL, and daughter, Kristy Holland of Waco, 12 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Joyce Lambert, sister-in-law, Tammy Bentley of Tallapoosa, and brother-in-law, Donald Bentley of Cedartown.
The family will host a memorial service for Homer Leonard Benefield on Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, 163 Shiloh Church Spur, Waco, GA 30182.
