Gwendolyn Jeanette Langley Baggett, age 78 of Tallapoosa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Born in Cleburne County, Alabama, on August 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Theo Anderson Langley and the late Flora Mae Mullins Langley. In addition to her parents, Jeanette is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Diane Austin; her sister, Teddy Cauthen; and her brothers, James Anderson Langley and William Lester Langley.
Jeanette worked for many years as a seamstress at the Hubbard Company and at Sewell Manufacturing Company. Her claim to fame was being one of the top sellers of Tupperware in this area, and she was awarded a company car for several years due to her success. Taking care of her flowers was one of her favorite pastimes. In her later years, Jeanette enjoyed spending time at the Tallapoosa Senior Center. Special events and dress up days were her favorite times, and she was crowned Fall Queen one year. Her family was her pride and joy and she dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jeanette's family and her faith kept her going. She loved going to church and spending time worshipping her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her bubbly personality and beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memories are her children and their spouses: Katherine Austin Reynolds of Tallapoosa, Billy Joe & Bonnie Austin, Jr. of Muscadine, and James Anderson & LaWanda Austin of Muscadine; her 10 precious grandchildren; and her 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother and sister-in-law, Robert Bruce & Janie Langley of Tallapoosa, a number of nieces and nephews, and many friends.
