Gary Wayne Jackson, age 73 of Bremen, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at his residence. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, on November 17, 1951, he was the son of the late James Reid Jackson and the late Marie Smith Jackson. In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Jackson.
A 1970 graduate of Haralson County High School, Wayne spent most of his life serving others. For over 25 years, he worked with the Georgia State Patrol, retiring at the rank of Sergeant. Back in the late 70's and early 80's, Wayne was a part of the Bremen Volunteer Fire Department, where he made many lifelong friends. After retirement Wayne enjoyed staying busy with his hobbies. He enjoyed playing pool, collecting antiques and memorabilia, and being with his family, friends, and Millie his mini dachshund. He could spend all day discussing politics with his friends. Wayne was also an avid Georgia Football fan and an active member of the Providence Baptist Church in Roopville.
His survivors include his son, Gage Jackson of Bremen; his former wife and special friend, Gaye Davenport of Bremen; a daughter, Marlo Jackson of Bremen; his brother and sister-in-law, Eddie & Lorine Jackson of Woodbury; and his grandchildren: Chase (Kayla) Jackson, Skyler (Bradley) Vines, Cain Jackson, Hunter Burns, Tucker Jackson, Hanna Wood, William Wood, Anthony Evans, Mackenzie Evans, Avery Wood, and Campbell Wood. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren: Madison Vines, Baylor Jackson, and Brady Jackson; and his niece, Beth (John Paul) Phillips and great nephews, Tyler Crew and Carter Crew; as well as many friends.
Funeral services for Wayne Jackson will be conducted Friday, December 20, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. from Hutcheson's Memorial Chapel with Brother Wayne Webb officiating. Honors will be performed by The Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Bremen.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 until the funeral hour.
